USA Cycling partners with Tioga to support junior devo efforts
USA Cycling is pleased to introduce Tioga, a bicycle component and tire manufacturer, as an official sponsor of its BMX Junior Development Program (JDP) camps.
The two-year sponsorship, which began this month and ends in December 2013, will see Tioga supply racing tires to USA Cycling’s JDP camps through 2013.
The JDP camps, which are held at the Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista, Calif., provide opportunities for the top 15- and 16-year-old racers to receive high performance training on the Supercross World Cup BMX track.
"As a company fully committed to the sport of BMX, Tioga jumped at the chance to work with USA Cycling on their BMX Junior Development Program," Kai Cheng, the marketing director for Tioga USA, said. "We are delighted to be able to offer our resources to USA Cycling for cultivating the best BMX racers in the world.”
“We are absolutely thrilled to work with Tioga USA on our Junior Development Program for the next two years,” said Mike King, USA Cycling’s BMX program director. "We've long believed Tioga to be a sensational sponsor for the Junior Development Program because of their unyielding support in BMX and proactive approach of BMX riders at all age levels. Tioga will receive immediate feedback on their products from the camp participants who choose to test them. Additionally, Tioga will get the chance to watch future American BMX stars on an Olympic-style BMX track. Who knows? The next Olympic hopeful targeting Rio 2016 could be riding in that Junior Development Program!”
USA Cycling holds six JDP camps each season. The remaining four camps of the 2011-12 BMX season are scheduled for April 2-7, June 18-23, Aug. 13-18 and Oct. 15-20.
Riders qualify to attend the camps with results during one of four qualification periods in USA Cycling’s BMX Junior Development Series. To learn more about the series, the camps, or how to qualify, please visit USA Cycling’s BMX Junior Development Program webpage.
