Pro CX: Bazin & Wyman hold leads after week three of Pro CX


After the third week of the 2012 USA Cycling Professional Cyclo-cross Calendar (Pro CX), Nicolas Bazin of France and Helen Wyman of Great Britain maintained their leads atop the individual standings.


After being the first to top the Pro CX men's individual standings, Bazin (FRA/Team Bigmat Auber) maintained his lead with a win and a second place at the Green Mountain Cyclocross Weekend, plus a sweep of the two Charm City Cross races. Vaulting into second, 130 points behind Bazin, was Jeremy Powers (Easthampton, Mass./Team Rapha-FOCUS), who picked up victories on the first days of Nittany Lion Cross and the USGP of Cyclocross - Planet Bike Cup, as well a win under the lights at CrossVegas.

Meanwhile, third through fifth in the men's standings are separated by just 20 points. Timothy Johnson (Topsfield, Mass./Cannondale p/b, who trails Powers by 50 points, holds a 15-point lead over Jonathan Page (Northfield, N.H./MiloEmmaPerle), who is just five points ahead of Jamey Driscoll (Winooski, Vt./Cannondale p/b


Since starting the 2012 Pro CX women's standings in first, Wyman (GBR/Kona Factory Team) added three more wins to her tally, taking the top podium spot at the first day of Nittany Lion Cross and both days of Charm City Cross. She holds a 70-point lead over Gabriella Day (GBR/Team Rapha-FOCUS). Arley Kemmerer (Saylorsburg, Pa./C3-Athletes Serving Athletes) sits in third ahead of Nicole Thiemann (Philadelphia, Pa./Team CF-Elite).

By virtue of her two wins at the USGP of Cyclocross - Planet Bike Cup, Katie Compton (Colorado Springs, Colo./Trek Cyclocross Collective) earned a spot in the top five. She is tied with Crystal Anthony (Beverly, Mass./LadiesFirst Racing) who was unbeatable at the Green Mountain Cyclocross Weekend.
