Nobles finishes eighth at Four-Cross Mountain Bike Worlds
Saalfelden Leogang, Austria (September 21, 2013) – Barry Nobles (Sun City, Calif./Airborne Cycles) topped the Americans’ performance at the 2013 UCI Four-Cross World Championships in Saalfelden Leogang, Austria.
After qualifying with the sixth-best time of 44.137, Nobles advanced to the small final, but was unable to start the small final to place eighth overall. Blake Carney (Camarillo, Calif./Supercross BMX), who posted a time of 45.105 to qualify in 14th place, finished fourth in the 1/4 final race to place 12th in the final results.
Joost Wichman (NED) won the big final ahead of Michael Mechura (CZE) and Quentin Derbier (FRA), who placed second and third, respectively.
Nobles, who won the pro men’s dual slalom national championship in August, also placed eighth among elite men at the UCI BMX World Championships in New Zealand in July.
