Mountain Bike National Championships hit Mammoth Mountain Wednesday


(July 12, 2015) – Nearly 100 Stars-and-Stripes jerseys will be settled at the 2015 USA Cycling Mountain Bike National Championships, July 15-19, in Mammoth Mountain, Calif. Athletes ages 6 and up will compete for national titles in cross-country, short track cross-country, downhill, dual slalom and Enduro at the five-day event, looking to be crowned as National Champions.

The Mountain Bike National Championships return to a combined schedule of all mountain bike disciplines for the first time since 2010 in Granby, Colo. See the complete schedule of events here.
Among the returning national champions are all seven 2014 professional champions. Pro cross-country winners Lea Davison (Jericho, Vt./Specialized Factory Racing) and Todd Wells (Durango, Colo./Specialized Factory Racing), short track cross-country champions Georgia Gould (Fort Collins, Colo./LUNA Pro Team) and Stephen Ettinger (Bozeman, Mont./Team Sho-Air-Cannondale), dual slalom titleholders Jill Kintner (Bellingham, Wash./Red Bull-Norco Bicycles) and Luca Cometti (San Diego, Calif./Intense Factory Racing) and men’s downhill winner Aaron Gwin (Wildomar, Calif./Specialized Racing) will all be primed to defend their titles. In addition to the women’s dual slalom, Kintner also took women’s downhill gold in 2014.

In addition to the Stars-and-Stripes jerseys that are on the line, automatic World Championship team nominations are also up for grabs for men’s and women’s 17-18 junior, U23 and elite winners. Three cross-country courses, one short track cross-country course, one dual slalom course and one downhill course will play host to more than 1,100 athletes this week.
