Gwin Wins World Cup Downhill in Leogang

  
  


Gwin won the overall World Cup title
Aaron Gwin notched his second World Cup podium of the season with a win in Leogang.
(June 11, 2017) – On the heels of a third-place finish last week in Fort William, defending World Cup champion Aaron Gwin (Wildomar, Calif./YT) was in top form Sunday, winning the third stop of the UCI Mountain Bike World Cup downhill in Leogang, Austria.

As the fastest qualifier on Saturday, Gwin was the last rider out of the gate on Sunday. His time of 3 minutes, 10.27 seconds was more than two seconds faster than runner-up Greg Minnaar (RSA), while Troy Brosnan (AUS) took third. With the victory, Gwin jumps from fourth to second in the World Cup standings with 434 points. Minnaar holds on to his lead with 472 points.

Luca Shaw (Hendersonville, N.C./SRAM Troy Lee Designs) made it two Americans in the top 10 as he finished 10th on Sunday with a time of 3:17.02. Other U.S. riders placing in the top 50 were Neko Mulally (Pisgah Forest, N.C./YT) in 26th (3:20.07), Dakotah Norton (Atlas, Mich./Morpheus Bikes) in 45th  (3:22.36), and  Eliot Jackson (Westlake Village, Calif./Giant Factory Racing) in 46th (3:22.45).
