Funding the incredible passion and energy of cyclocross
The MudFund is a branch of the USA Cycling Foundation (USACF), USA Cycling’s non-profit fundraising arm for U.S. National and Olympic Team athlete development. The MudFund was created to raise money for year-round support of cyclocross athlete development and competition support. The focus of the MudFund is on cultivating grassroots efforts, providing opportunities to young athletes and opening the development pathway to elite level competition. The MudFund receives no federal funding or subsidies and operates solely through private donations from individuals, corporations and other foundations.
The MudFund supported USA Cycling to hire our first National Cyclocross Manager. Jesse Anthony, former professional cyclist and 7 time CX National Champion who has gone through the ranks in both road and CX, will work on both athletic development and other initiatives that support the growth of cyclocross here in the United States.
We are fortunate to have so many dedicated and passionate supporters of cross throughout the country. We plan to supplement and support decades of their valuable work through the expansion of club partnerships and create new CX-focused opportunities for young riders to show their ability and enter the development pipeline.
Many clubs already have established cyclocross programming, and we plan to recognize those strong cyclocross development programs already in existence, develop and share best practices and create coaching education specific to cyclocross.
The MudFund will support further need-based subsidization of Junior, U23 men/women, and elite women. The World Championships are always center stage as the season wraps up, and with Fayetteville 2022 on the horizon, supporting our Worlds Team becomes crucially important.
