 Event Description
Signal Peak "Punk" Challenge is an annual cross-country MTB event in the mountains of the Gila National Forest near Silver City, NM. It's a one-day event for all XC categories complete with a delicious pit BBQ dinner! Race fee buys a plate at the BBQ dinner on Saturday, 7:00 p.m. at the staging area. No refunds, no rain date.

 Course Description
Course will be flagged by Saturday afternoon, 7/20/13, for pre-riding. Yes, again the "old course" of single-track/fire roads must be done, but this time we're doing it punk rock. So get those mohawks and your spike collars on! Pro/Cat 1 men and Pro women do one big 22 mi. lap and another 8 mi. lap. Single Speed, Cat 1 women and Cat 2 men do one big 22 mi. lap. Cat 2 women and Cat 1 Junior women do same as last year. Cat 3 men and women do 5.5 mile laps.

 Registration
Sign up online at www.usacycling.org before noon on Friday, July 19, 2013 for $30 plus fees. Registration also at Gila Hike & Bike until Saturday 7/20 ($35). On-site Registration and Number Pick-up: $35 adult punks, $17.50 jr. punks.--Sunday 7/21 at Start/Finish Line 7:15 a.m.-8:15 a.m. $10 for a 1-day license. T-shirts are $12 extra. Please pay for shirts before 7/8/13 so we'll order the right sizes. New this year to promote youth cycling 13-18 Juniors race 1/2 price!

 Notes
Race fee buys a plate at the BBQ dinner on Saturday, 7:00 p.m. at the staging area. No refunds, no rain date. Mandatory Racer’s Meeting at 8:50 a.m., July 21, at the Start/Finish Line. Start at 9:00 a.m. No I-Pod use while racing. Racers who have not reached NM 15 and FR 149 by 12:00 p.m. may be directed to a short-cut and scored according to their placing at the time. Scoring will be done according to New Mexico Off Road Series Categories and age Groups, however some categories will be combined for prizes. Prizes or cash for top 3 in each class. Classes will be combined at the race director's discretion and started in waves. All racers must have a valid USA Cycling license and wear a USAC approved helmet. Singlespeed, Cat. 2 and Cat. 3 racers may purchase a one-day license for $10. Racers my NOT use Headphones during their race.

 Directions
To get to the Start/Finish, head north from Silver City on NM HWY 15 for 14.5 miles (towards Gila Cliff Dwellings), turn right on onto Signal Peak Road (FR 154) and the staging area will be on your left in 100 yards. Parking will be off of Signal Peak Road, please park in pullouts to ease congestion, and there will be No-Parking zones marked off. Do Not Park on the pavement of NM 15, please.
