Eric Young Set to Defend Pro Crit National Championship Title

Arlington, VA (July 24, 2012) — As the nation’s top professional cyclists compete for the Herman Miller USA Cycling Professional Criterium National Championship in downtown Grand Rapids this Saturday, July 28, 11 BISSELL Pro Cycling riders — including defending national champion Eric Young—will represent the hometown sponsor.

The 6th annual Herman Miller Grand Cycling Classic will serve as host to the 2012 national championship event where nearly every U.S.-based pro team will compete. The BISSELL pro roster will include:

  • Eric Young, Defending Champion, Men’s Pro Criterium National Championship (2011)
  • Andrew Baker
  • Christopher Baldwin
  • Christopher Barton
  • Mac Brennan
  • Andrew Dahlheim
  • Benjamin Jacques-Maynes
  • Carter Jones
  • Weston Luzadder
  • Frank Pipp
  • Alex Vanias

BISSELL pros have won the Grand Cycling Classic for the past three years, with Patrick Bevin placing first in 2010 and Tom Zirbel finishing on top in 2009. The strong BISSELL roster promises to be ready to defend Young’s national championship title with a field that includes several veteran riders and three new pros — Brennan, Luzadder and Vanias — who recently signed from the BISSELL-ABG-NUVO development team.

The Herman Miller Grand Cycling Classic kicks off at 7:15 a.m. Saturday with the 2nd annual Grand Cycling Challenge Ride followed by a series of men’s amateur category and master’s races, the Senior Women’s Pro/Am NCC race and the Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital Kids’ Race. The USA Cycling Pro Criterium National Championship begins at 3:30 p.m. Start/finish line is on Ionia, just south of Fulton.
