USA Cycling Releases Long List of Riders Eligible for 2018 Pan-American Elite Track Championships

Colorado Springs, Colo. – USA Cycling announced today the long team list of athletes eligible for nomination to represent Team USA at the 2018 Pan-American Elite Track Championships. Fourteen men and 11 women are candidates for selection to the final team that will race at the Belem Guerrero Velodrome in Aguascalientes, Mexico, from Aug. 29 - Sept. 2, 2018.

“We have large group of very talented athletes on the long team – all who have had a successful year on the track,” said Jeff Pierce, USA Cycling director of elite athletics. “Between World Champions, National Champions and riders who have come up through the USA Cycling development programs, the lineup for this year’s Pan Am Championships will be full of medal potential.”

The final selection of athletes to compete in the 2018 Pan-American Elite Track Championships will be announced next week. Riders on the long list were nominated based on results at World Championships, the USA Cycling Elite Track National Championships, World Cup performances this season, and finishes at other UCI races. The Pan American Championships are held annually for member nations of the Pan American Cycling Confederation. Riders competing in the Pan American Cycling Championships are selected by their respective national governing bodies and provide another avenue for athletes to qualify for World Championships.
