USICX: Powers clinches men's title, women's crown in doubt

After a two-week hiatus, the United States International Cyclo-cross Calendar (USICX) resumed with a pair of races at the Chicago Cyclocross Cup New Year's Resolution in Bloomingdale, Ill. Despite strong winds and a muddy course with frozen patches, the riders rang in 2012 with great racing on Dec. 31, 2011 and Jan. 1, 2012. With only one race remaining on the calendar, only the women's champion is in doubt.

After finishing second to Ryan Trebon (Bend, Ore./LTS-Felt) in both races, Jeremy Powers (Easthampton, Mass./Team Rapha-Focus) clinched the top spot in the USICX men's standings. With one race remaining, Powers holds a 92-point advantage on Trebon. Trebon's pair of victories allowed him to overtake and open a 66-point cushion on Ben Berden (BEL/Ops Ale-Clement), who slipped into third. Jamey Driscoll (Winooski, Vt./Cannondale p/b Cyclocrossworld) remains in fourth place, while Justin Lindine (New Salem, Mass./BikeReg.com-Joe's Garage) rounds out the top five.
