Colorado Springs (April 21, 2014) -- The eyes of the cycling world are quickly becoming familiar with the new look of Team USA. Several podium finishes at the early spring classic road races in Europe, as well as at the BMX Continental Championships in Chula Vista, Calif., and the BMX Supercross World Cup in Manchester, England, have provided the perfect runways for Team USA to model their new threads.

The new Team USA Cycling kits were designed by cycling legend and design guru Bob Haro, known around the globe as the originator of freestyle BMX. The new team kit also introduces clothing manufacturer CUORE as an official supplier to Team USA Cycling.

The new design marks the first major update to the Team USA Cycling kit in five years and introduces the new Team USA Cycling logo that recognizes and celebrates the elite cyclists who are part of USA Cycling's national programs, world and Olympic teams.

"We strive to keep riders comfortable, healthy and performing at their very best," commented Scott Tietzel of CUORE of Switzerland. "Every athlete who puts on a USA Cycling team kit will notice the inspirational message 'You are representing the United States of America' on the back of the bib straps.”

Years of development have resulted in apparel designed to provide athletes every possible advantage. The partnership between CUORE and  USA Cycling is about delivering cutting edge quality apparel as well as helping build the Team USA Cycling brand as something cool and exciting -  for elite athletes  and amateur bike racers alike.

"We were looking for a manufacturer that would go beyond the limits in terms of performance and execution of a design," said USA Cycling Vice President of Athletics Jim Miller. "While CUORE is new, their team has a long history in developing world class performing materials. We were fortunate to be able to work with Bob Haro who took the time to develop a concept that has a fresh, new, classic design that represents America. There is a second element to this design that has yet to be released. When you see it, you will love it."

World time trial bronze medalist and reigning time trial national champion Carmen Small feels the new kits are the best she's seen for the U.S. team.

"They're very different," Small commented. "I've been in the program since 2008 so I've been through a fair amount of kits and I actually like this one the best. They stand out. They catch the eye and create some buzz and that's always a good thing."
