Three media partners announced for U.S. Pro Road and Time Trial Nationals

Colorado Springs Colo. (May 19, 2014) -- USA Cycling has announced the addition of three media partners for the Volkswagen USA Cycling Professional Road and Time Trial National Championships that will take place May 24-26 in Chattanooga, Tenn. Cumulus Media, WTVC Newschannel 9, and the Chattanooga Times Free Press have all been named as media partners of the event, which features America’s top men and women professional cyclists vying for Stars-and-Stripes jerseys that signify national champion.

Cumulus Media is America's second-largest operator of radio stations, providing high-impact local marketing solutions in 110 metropolitan areas including Chattanooga at WSKZ, WOGT, WGOW-FM and WGOW-AM. This marks the second straight year of support from Cumulus Media for the event, and FM station WSKZ (KZ106) will be broadcasting live race reports from the top of Lookout Mountain on May 26.
"We, at Cumulus Media, are extremely proud and honored to be partnering with the Volkswagen USA Cycling Pro Road and Time Trial Nationals for a second year in a row," said Promotions Director Kelly McCoy. "This is a wonderful way to say thank you and to showcase this beautiful city that we have been serving for over 35 years. We look forward to contributing to the growth of this event using our flagship station, KZ106, as well as 107.9 Big FM, Talk 102.3 and WGOW 1150."

“The station is proud to be the television partner of the Volkswagen USA Cycling Pro Road and Time Trial National Championships," said General Manager Michael J. Costa. "Cycling has exploded across the country and Chattanooga has been at the forefront of cycling’s growth. The Pro Road and Time Trial Championships give weekend riders in Chattanooga a glimpse into how the pros handle our unique topography. What can be more fun than taking the family downtown to watch these racers fly by at 30mph and then slow to a crawl as they climb Lookout Mountain?  It is a great event for Chattanooga.”

The Chattanooga Times Free Press is also on board for their second straight year of support for the Volkswagen USA Cycling Professional Road and Time Trial National Championships, and will once again publish an informative spectator guide for the weekend's events.
"We are extremely proud to support organizations whose efforts enhance the community by raising awareness, generating funds, and creating calls to action," said Lyndsi Lane, marketing manager. "Our goal is to align the Chattanooga Times Free Press Foundation with community events and fundraisers that truly make a difference in the lives of our readers, employees, and advertisers.  The partnership between the Chattanooga Times Free Press, specifically our Get Out Magazine, and the Volkswagen USA Cycling Professional Road and Time Trial National Championships is a natural fit. We appreciate the opportunity to promote one of Chattanooga's largest and most exciting outdoor events to the Get Out reader-- most of whom are biking enthusiasts who we fully expect to "Get Out" to the races this month, and once the pros are done, to take a spin on the same course and see how they compare to some of the world's best riders."
The Chattanooga Times Free Press Foundation gives just over one million dollars annually in the form of donations and advertising space to over one hundred local nonprofits and other businesses.

The racing begins at the Volkswagen Chattanooga Plant on Saturday, May 24, at 8:30 a.m. with the U.S. Handcycling time trials. The professional women are slated to contest the time trial beginning at 11 a.m. before the pro men take the course at 2 p.m.
