The picturesque City of Highland nestled in the foothills of the San Bernardino Mountains will once again host a stage of the Redlands Bicycle Classic. The city last hosted a stage in 2003. A circuit race gives spectators more chances to watch the racers as they continuously race on a 2.8 mile loop throughout the Highland community. The course features a very steep climb up Baseline Avenue on every lap. The 2.8-mile course will add a big dose of leg burning racing to kick off the 2014 Redlands Bicycle Classic and the USA Cycling National Racing Calendar (NRC) season. In past years, the Highland Circuit race has seen wind, rain, heat, and long break-aways from the climbers.

"We are extremely pleased to be returning to the City of Highland for a circuit race for our 30th year with a challenging effort for our cyclists. The City of Highland has a great history with the Redlands Bicycle Classic, the people in the community are great bike racing fans," said Race Director Eric Reiser.

The Highland Circuit Race was an integral part of the Redlands Bicycle Classic during the 1990’s and early 2000’s. The race saw head-to-head duels of the best climbers in North America including Chris Horner, many who went on to international success and fame.

“I’ve been a supporter ever since it started, and was a race marshal for many years. I’m so happy the Bike Classic is coming back to Highland, it really enhances community pride in our city,” said Mayor of Highland Sam Racadio.
