Team pursuit bronze for USA in Hong Kong

(Jan. 15, 2016) – The third and final round of the 2015-2016 UCI Track Cycling World Cup is underway this weekend in Hong Kong. After day two on Saturday, Team USA has a bronze medal, compliments of the women’s team pursuit squad.
After falling to the Canadians in round one, Kelly Catlin (Arden Hills, Minn./NorthStar Development), Chloe Dygert (Brownsburg, Ind./TWENTY16 p/b SHO-AIR), Jennifer Valente (San Diego, Calif./TWENTY16 p/b SHO-AIR), and Ruth Winder (Lafayette, Calif./UnitedHealthcare) posted a time of 4:21.412 to take the win ahead of China in the bronze medal round. The result put the American squad in second overall in the team pursuit World Cup standings.
Also putting forth winning performances on Saturday was Sarah Hammer (Colorado Springs, Colo.), who led the women’s omnium after placing sixth in the scratch race and first in the individual pursuit. She finished second in the omnium’s final Saturday event, the elimination race, which puts her in second going into the final day of competition.

Jacob Duehring (Irvine, Calif./GS Ciao) is representing the USA in the men’s omnium, so far with 22nd in the scratch race, 22nd in the individual pursuit and 19th in the elimination race.
