			<title>Women learn track racing basics from some of the best in LA</title>

			<description>Dozens of women have been learning the basics of track racing from some of the nation's best in the Ladies Only Track Sessions (LOTS) at the ADT Event Center Velodrome in Los Angeles. The monthly clinics teach women the basic skills needed to ride on the track for only a meager $10 fee. The girls-only program has grown quite the reputation for providing women with opportunities to see what track cyclingandrsquo;s all about whether theyandrsquo;re experienced cyclists or not.</description>

			<title>Reed wins world keirin title in Manchester</title>

			<description>Jennie Reed gave the United States its first world title in the womenandrsquo;s keirin on Sunday to close out the 2008 UCI Track Cycling World Championships. After winning the bronze medal in the sprint on Saturday, Reed gave the U.S. its third medal of the weekend when she sprinted to victory against her five challengers in the keirin final. The U.S. closed the world championships with a total of three medals andndash; two of which were contributed by Reed and one from Sarah Hammer who won the silver in the womenandrsquo;s individual pursuit.</description>

			<title>Reed wins bronze medal in sprint, raises U.S. medal count to two</title>

			<description>Jennie Reed gave the United States Cycling Team its second medal of the 2008 UCI Track Cycling World Championships on Saturday with a bronze in the women's sprint. Reed bested Guo Shuang (CHN) in two out of three head-to-head rides to claim her first career world championship sprint medal. After falling in two straight rides to defending champion Victoria Pendleton (GBR) in the semifinals, Reed was sent to the bronze-medal round for a face-off with Guo. Reed won the first heat but was beaten by Guo in the second to set up a third and decisive ride. In the decider Reed edged Guo in a photo-finish to place third overall.</description>

			<title>Reed in medal contention with trip to semifinals of women's sprint</title>

			<description>Jennie Reed assured herself a chance at earning a second medal for the United States at the 2008 UCI Track Cycling World Championships by advancing to Saturdayandrsquo;s semifinals of the womenandrsquo;s sprint. Reed was perfect through her preliminary heats on Friday to set up a head-to-head semifinal match against defending world champion Victoria Pendleton (GBR). If Reed wins her semifinal heat, sheandrsquo;ll advance to the gold-medal final to face either Simona Krupeckaite (LTU) or Guo Shuang (CHN). If she loses, sheandrsquo;ll compete for the bronze medal. </description>

			<title>Hammer wins silver at 2008 UCI Track Cycling World Championships</title>

			<description>The United States Cycling Team claimed its first medal of the 2008 UCI Track Cycling World Championships on Thursday as Sarah Hammer finished second in the womenandrsquo;s individual pursuit. Her silver-medal performance marked her third consecutive visit to the podium at the world championships after winning back-to-back world titles in 2006 and andrsquo;07. As a medalist at this yearandrsquo;s world championships, Hammer will earn an automatic nomination to the 2008 U.S. Olympic Team. </description>

			<title>Phinney records fastest pursuit yet in 8th-place finish at World's</title>

			<description>Taylor Phinney continued his quest for a spot on the U.S. Olympic Team on Wednesday, lowering his personal best time in the men's individual pursuit by more than two seconds and recording a new world-record time for a junior. His mark of 4 minutes, 22.358 seconds placed him eighth in his first-ever UCI Track World Championships while his time of 3:17.523 at the 3-kilometer mark andndash; the distance juniors typically race andndash; surpassed the previous world record of 3:17.775 set by Michael Ford (AUS) in 2004. Phinney's previous personal best over four kilometers was 4:24.364.</description>

			<title>U.S. National Team for '08 Track World Championships announced</title>

Set for March 26-30 in Manchester, Great Britain, the World Championships will feature nine American athletes and serve as the final major event before this summer's Olympic Games.  Representing the U.S. in Manchester will be Michael Blatchford, Adam Duvendeck, Michael Friedman, Bobby Lea, Colby Pearce, Taylor Phinney, Sarah Hammer, Becky Quinn and Jennie Reed.</description>

			<title>Copenhagen World Cup continues with second bronze for Cliff-Ryan</title>

			<description>After earning her first career World Cup medal on Friday, Theresa Cliff-Ryan added a second bronze medal to her collection on Saturday with a third-place finish in the womenandrsquo;s 20-kilometer points race. As the fourth and final round of the 2007-08 UCI Track World Cup Classics continued, Cliff-Ryan was the only U.S. medalist on the second day of competition. After tying for third with Anastasiay Chilkova (RUS) in the scratch race on Friday, Cliff-Ryanandrsquo;s second bronze medal of the weekend came on the heels of another close finish. Her 22 points equaled the amount scored by Elke Gebhart (GER), but a higher placing in the final sprint gave the American the advantage.</description>

			<title>Americans open Copenhagen World Cup with pair of bronze medals</title>

			<description>The final round of the 2007-08 UCI Track World Cup Classics got underway Friday as the U.S. contingent collected a pair of bronze medals on opening night of the three-day competition. Sarah Hammer placed third in the womenandrsquo;s 3-kilometer individual pursuit while countrywoman Theresa Cliff-Ryan claimed her first career World Cup medal with a third-place effort in the womenandrsquo;s 10-kilometer scratch race. Taylor Phinney placed 10th in the menandrsquo;s 4-kilometer individual pursuit and narrowly missed an automatic bid to the 2008 Olympic Games by finishing second overall in the World Cup standings behind Ukraineandrsquo;s Volodymyr Dudya. </description>
