			<description>USA Cycling is offering a free webinar covering national program opportunities for mountain bike and cyclo-cross athletes. Set for April 13 from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. MDT, the presentation will provide an overview on USA Cyclingandrsquo;s national programs and information on how athletes are identified, how to enter USA Cyclingandrsquo;s Development Pathway and the new European race program. Dr. Kristin Dieffenbach, Ph.D. will also be presenting a series of webinars in April, including Training on Limited Time coming up on April 9.</description>

			<title>Compton scores bronze at cyclo-cross world championships</title>

			<description>Katie Compton became the first two-time medalist in U.S. Cyclo-cross history on Sunday, winning a bronze medal in the elite women's contest behind world champion Marianne Vos (NED) and runner-up Hanka Kupfernagel (GER) at the 2009 UCI Cyclo-cross World Championships in Holland. The silver medalist in 2007, Compton led the race for much of the first half before Kupfernagel and Vos joined her to establish the winning breakaway. Compton's bronze led a U.S. women's team that placed all five of its riders in the top 20.</description>

			<title>Page added to U.S. World Championship cyclo-cross team</title>

			<description>USA Cycling announced today the addition of Jonathan Page to the U.S. National Team roster for next weekendandrsquo;s UCI Cyclo-cross World Championships. USA Cycling originally denied Pageandrsquo;s initial petition to the world championship team, citing his ineligible status stemming from an open anti-doping investigation at the time of the teamandrsquo;s selection on Jan. 14. But after those responsible for adjudicating the case cleared Page of any wrongdoing, it was announced today that Page would represent the U.S. in the Netherlands as a member of the elite menandrsquo;s roster on Feb. 1.</description>

			<title>World championships to cap off Compton's stellar 'cross season</title>

			<description>Two years after the most successful day in U.S. cyclo-cross history, Katie Compton is looking to accomplish what only one other American has managed to do in the 58-year history of the world championships - win a gold medal. Compton recently finished third overall in the 2008-09 UCI Cyclo-cross World Cup standings with three victories to her credit.  Also ranked third in the overall world rankings, the 2007 silver medalist leads a formidable U.S. squad with medal aspirations in this weekend's 2009 UCI Cyclo-cross World Championships in Hoogerheide, Netherlands.</description>

			<title>USA Cycling members claim three medals at masters 'cross world's</title>

			<description>American athletes brought home three medals from the 2009 UCI World Masters Cyclo-cross Championships last weekend, claiming one world title and two silver medals.  Katherine Sarvary earned the gold medal in the women's pre-1960 class, while compatriot Lillian Pfluke claimed silver in the same category.  Adding to the U.S. medal count was Katrina Baumsteiger, who captured her fourth consecutive silver medal after also placing second in 2006, '07 and '08. The masters world championships take place one week before the elite event, scheduled for Jan. 31 - Feb. 1 in Hoogerheide, Netherlands.</description>

			<title>Elite men's squad named for '09 Cyclo-cross world championships</title>

			<description>USA Cycling announced today the five athletes that were nominated to represent the United States in the elite men's category at the 2009 UCI Cyclo-cross World Championships on Feb. 1 in Hoorgerheide, Netherlands.  Ryan Trebon, Tim Johnson and Jeremy Powers all earned automatic nominations as the top three Americans in the UCI rankings.  Brian Matter and Matt Shriver were awarded discretionary selections and will wear the Stars and Stripes.  Although Johnson declined his invitation, the U.S. still sends a formidable squad that joins the previously announced roster of women, U23 and junior athletes.</description>

			<title>2009-10 USA Cycling Cyclo-cross Nationals awarded to Bend, Oregon</title>

			<description>The 2009-10 USA Cycling Cyclo-cross National Championships have been awarded to the city of Bend, Ore., the national governing body announced today. The USA Cycling Cyclo-cross National Championships were last held in the Pacific Northwest when Portland hosted the 2003 and 2004 editions. Since then, the annual event has been held in Providence, R.I. (2005-06) and Kansas City, Kan. (2007-08). With scheduled dates of Dec. 10-13 in 2009 and Dec. 9-12 in 2010, the two-year commitment returns the national championships to one of the most popular hotbeds of cyclo-cross racing in North America.</description>

			<description>USA Cycling has announced the first round of nominations to the United States National Team for the 2009 UCI Cyclo-cross World Championships in Hoogerheide, Netherlands, Jan. 31-Feb. 1. Five athletes were named to each of the elite womenandrsquo;s, U23 menandrsquo;s and junior menandrsquo;s squads based on competitive performances over the course of the last year. Katie Compton, Georgia Gould, Rachel Lloyd, Laura Van Gilder and Sue Butler will represent the U.S. in the elite women's race.</description>

			<description>Recently crowned USA Cycling Cyclo-cross National Champion, Katie Compton earned the victory in the sixth UCI Cyclo-cross World Cup of the 2008-2009 season on Saturday in Nommay, France.  Overall, three American women finished inside the top 10 with Georgia Gould also grabbing a podium spot in third while Rachel Lloyd crossed the line in eighth. The seventh round of the UCI Cyclo-cross World Cup series will take place Dec. 26 in Belgium.</description>

Jeremy Powers, Tim Johnson, Jamey Driscoll and Todd Wells rounded out the top-five on the men's side in the season-long standings, while Laura Van Gilder, Rachel Lloyd, Katie Compton and Maureen Bruno-Roy finished two through four for the women.</description>
