Pro GRT: 2013 Pro Gravity calendar blasts out of the gate

(March 20, 2013) -- The 2013 USA Cycling Professional Gravity Tour (Pro GRT) began its 10-event calendar on Saturday with the Reaper Madness Downhill & Super D in Boulder City, Nev. After all the dust had settled, Logan Binggeli (Saint George, Utah/KHS Factory Racing) and Jacqueline Harmony (Tucson, Ariz./Team Harmony Pivot) emerged atop the season's first Pro GRT standings.

Men
Topping the 54-rider pro men's field at Reaper Madness Downhill & Super D was Logan Binggeli (Saint George, Utah/KHS Factory Racing), who finished with a time of 3:46.21. Aaron Gwin (Temecula, Calif./Specialized Racing) finished in second place only .16 seconds behind Binggeli. Mikey Sylvestri (Truckee, Calif./Arma Evil) placed third, only two seconds behind Gwin with a time of 3:48.75. Kyle Sangers (CAN/PerformX DH Team) finished fourth with a mark of 3:53.81 and Kevin Aiello (Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif./KHS Factory Racing) was fifth after finishing in 3:54.83.

Binggeli earned 60 points and leads the Pro GRT men's standings, 20 points ahead of Gwin. Sylvestri recorded 30 points after placing third and has a five-point cushion over Sangers, who sits in fourth place with 25 points. Aiello rounds out the top five with 20 points.

Women
Jacqueline Harmony (Tucson, Ariz./Team Harmony Pivot) topped the women's field with an astounding time of 4:42.92, 45 seconds faster than the next-fastest competitor. Christine Dern (Salt Lake City, Utah/Bee Rad Racing) finished second with a time of 5:27.85, only two seconds faster than the third-place Joy Martin (San Diego, Calif./Vixen Racing), who completed the course in 5:29.87. Ana Rodriguez (Salt Lake City, Utah/Lake Town Bicycles) descended the course in 5:32.19 to place fourth while Jackie Swider (San Luis Obispo, Calif./Shredly-Team Bacon) finished in fifth place with a time of 5:35.95.

After one race, Harmony tops the Pro GRT women's standings with 60 points, 20 points ahead of Dern. Martin sits 10 points out of second place, but only five points ahead of Rodriguez, who sits in fourth place with 25 points. Swider sits in fifth place with 20 points.
