Elite Road Championships: FAQ's

1) WILL THERE BE A TEAM CAR CARAVAN FOR MY ROAD RACE?
- Shimano Neutral Service will be available in each road race caravan.
The Elite Men's Road Race and Junior Men's Selection Road Race on Wednesday
6/16 will not have team cars in the caravan. The Elite Women's Road Race
Championship and the USAC Men's Team Selection Race will allow team cars
in the caravan, based on the following criteria.
a) All UCI-registered trade teams are allowed to enter (1) caravan vehicle.
The driver must hold a UCI Support License.
b) Each non-UCI trade team with 5 or more riders in the field will be
allowed to enter (1) caravan vehicle. The driver must hold a UCI Support
License.
c) Vehicles will be arranged in the caravan in this order: 1) Tier I
Trade Teams 2) Tier II Trade Teams, 3) Tier III Trade Teams, 4) Non-Trade
Teams. Team cars within each category will be staged based on their
NRC Team Standing as of June 1, 2004.
2) WILL MY TEAM DIRECTOR BE ABLE TO FOLLOW ME IN THE TIME TRIAL?
- Team follow vehicles will only be allowed in the Elite Women's Time
Trial, as it is the only TT used for Olympic Selection. Shimano Neutral
Service will station wheel pits consistently around the course for all
categories. Follow vehicles will be allowed based on the following criteria:
a) UCI-registered Trade Teams may select three riders to follow. These
three riders must be followed be three different vehicles and all drivers
must hold a UCI Support License.
b) All riders seeded in the last 10 places are eligible to be followed
by a team car. Seedings will be based on the 2003 Elite Time Trial Championship
results.
3) WHICH RULEBOOK WILL GOVERN MY RACE?
- All races that are selection events for a UCI race will use UCI rules
throughout. Therefore, USCF rules will be used for: 1) Elite Men's Road
Race and 2) Elite Men's Time Trial. UCI rules will be used for 1) USAC Team
Selection Race, 2) Elite Women's Road Race, 3) Elite Women's Time Trial,
4) Junior Men's Selection Road Race, and 5) Junior Men's Selection Time
Trial.
4) MUST THE JUNIORS RACE ON JUNIOR GEARS AND PASS ROLL OUT?
- YES. All Junior Men competing in the Selection Series Road Race and Time
Trial must pass rollout following the race in order for their placing to
stand.
5) CAN THE DEFENDING NATIONAL CHAMPION WEAR STARS & STRIPES
IN THIS YEAR'S EVENT?
- NO. All riders must wear their normal team kits during the National Championship
races. |
