Sport Committees elect USA Cycling Board of Director Reps

USA Cycling conducted at its headquarters its first two-day Sport Committee Summit, which was the initial meeting of the sports’ representatives under USA Cycling’s new governance structure. Seven Sport Committees comprising a total of 46 members representing Road, Track, Mountain Bike, Cyclo-cross, BMX, Professional Road and Collegiate participated in a general session to discuss USA Cycling’s vision and strategic plan followed by individual Sport Committee meetings.

In the new governance structure, one of the initial points of business for each Sport Committee was to elect a representative to the USA Cycling Board of Directors. Most of the Sport Committee members elected to the USA Cycling Board of Directors previously served on the board. The following individuals were elected to the USA Cycling Board of Directors:

Bill Peterson, Professional Committee
Mark Abramson, Collegiate Committee
Wayne Stetina, Road Committee
Lisa Nye-Saladin, Mountain Bike Committee
Jim Patton, Cyclo-cross Committee
Dave Miller, Track Committee*
BA Anderson, BMX Committee

"These meetings represented the culmination of nearly two years of work by the USA Cycling staff and Board of Directors," said Steve Johnson, President and CEO of USA Cycling.  "Based on the way the new committees have embraced their roles and responsibilities, it is clear that the new structure is going to be an incredibly effective vehicle for stakeholder input into our strategic planning process."

The USA Cycling Development Foundation also elected representatives to the USA Cycling Board of Directors at its semi-annual meeting last week:

Michael Patterson
John Bucksbaum
Matt Barger
