A group of American cyclists contested the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) Mountain Bike World Cup event in Nove Mesto Na Morave, Czech Republic.

Stephen Ettinger (Cashmere, Wash./BMC MTB Development Team) posted the best finish, placing fifth in the men’s under-23 contest on Saturday. Ettinger is in eighth place on the UCI’s Mountain Bike cross-country standings with one event, Val di Sole, Italy, remaining on the calendar.

In Sunday’s elite competition, Lea Davison (Jericho, Vt./Specialized) finished seventh in the women’s race. Georgia Gould (Fort Collins, Colo./LUNA Pro Team) finished six minutes behind the winner, Catharine Pendrel (CAN), in 14th place. Heather Irmiger (Boulder, Colo./Subaru-Trek) placed fifteenth, while Katie Compton (Colorado Springs, RaboBank-Giant) was 11 minutes behind Pendrel in 28th. Mary McConneloug (Chilmark, Mass./Kenda-Seven-NoTubes) finished 12:13 behind Pendrel in 35th. With only one event remaining on the UCI’s World Cup calendar, Gould is the top-ranked American elite woman, sitting in 13th.

In the elite men’s competition, Jaroslav Kulhavy (CZE) finished in 1:41:52. Sam Schultz (Missoula, Mont./Subrau-Trek) was the top American placing 15th, 3:43 behind Kulhavy. In 22nd Jeremy Horgan-Kobelski (Boulder, Colo./Subaru-Trek) was 5:27 behind the winner. Adam Craig (Bend, Ore./Giant) placed 41st, 8:25 behind Kulhavy. Todd Wells (Durango, Colo./Specialized) is the top-ranked American on the UCI’s cross-country rankings, sitting in 21st.
