Chicago-area NRC race originally slated for August 21 cancelled

The USA Cycling National Racing Calendar (NRC) event originally scheduled in Evanston, IL on August 21st has been cancelled. Organizers of the Evanston Grand Prix previously announced an event date change, due to contractual issues, which forced the race’s removal from the NRC schedule. Local Chicago-area and USA Cycling officials were then unable to secure a replacement NRC event in the limited time frame.

”Simply stated there was just not enough time to produce a quality replacement NRC event on such short notice and so a decision was made to cancel the August 21st date,” explained USA Cycling Managing Director of National Events Micah Rice.

The event was slated to be the 25th race on USA Cycling’s NRC. The country’s premier pro/am road cycling calendar will now be comprised of 28 total events in 2011.
