Collegiate Cycling - Welcome

Thanks for your interest in collegiate cycling! Whether you are a  college student who has just found collegiate racing, a high school student looking to take the next step, or an alum or fan looking to get involved, we hope that we can answer all of your questions here. Collegiate cycling is one of the fastest growing aspects of American cycling today, and there is every reason you should be a part of it. Along those lines, here is the mission statement of collegiate cycling:

Collegiate Cycling is team-oriented bicycle racing for women and men of all abilities. It focuses on:
(a)  Providing new riders with a welcoming introduction to the Collegiate Cycling family;
(b)  Enabling elite riders to pursue an education while benefiting from development opportunities that integrate with amateur and professional teams and national development programs;
(c)  Creating personal growth and leadership development opportunities for scholar athletes both on and off the bike;
(d)  Ensuring that the sport we love is low cost and accessible to any student who wants to race a bike.

Here’s a very brief overview of how to get started with Collegiate Cycling:
-Collegiate Cycling offers races in multiple categories, from professional-level to introductory. No matter what category you wish to race in, however, you need to have a license with USA Cycling. You can buy a One-Day License, for $15, or an Annual Collegiate License, which is $35.
-In order to compete in and purchase a license for collegiate cycling, you must be a full-time student and your school must have a team. If your institution doesn’t have a cycling team, however, starting one is quick, free, and easy: Simply fill out this form, mail or fax it in, and you’re all set! The normal fee of $75 is waived for the first year.
-Collegiate Cycling is organized into 11 conferences, each with its own regular racing seasons. At the end of each season (there are 4 per year: Track, Mountain Bike, Cyclocross, and Road), there is a National Championship.

And that’s basically it! Please read through the other pages on this site and the Frequently Asked Questions, and if you can’t find the answer to your question here, write us an e-mail or give us a phone call. And if you'd like to know how USA Cycling Collegiate came about, check out the complete history of the program, dating all the way back to the 1960's!
All the best of luck to you in Collegiate Cycling,
