Swedberg, Peterson, Rivera on podiums abroad
The past week was a good one for USA Cycling's young riders as Benjamin Swedberg (Kent, Wash/Rad Racing), Colt Peterson (Huntington Beach, Calif.), and Coryn Rivera (Tustin, Calif./Peanut Butter & Co TWENTY 12) all found themselves on podiums around the world. Additionally, the U.S. is presently ranked number-one in the UCI's Junior Nations Cup rankings.

ROAD
Riding for the USA Cycling Development Program squad, Benjamin Swedberg picked up the best young rider and sprint jerseys after the seven-day, six-stage Tour de l'Abitibi in Canada on Sunday.
The 18-year-old Swedberg won stage five of the Junior Nations Cup event and also appeared on the podium three additional times.
Swedberg was joined at the event by USA Cycling teammates Thomas Jondall (Tucson, Ariz.), Colt Peterson (Huntington Beach, Calif.), Paul Lynch (Colchester, Conn./CL Noonan-Bay Hill Capital-Corner Cycle), Nathaniel Geoffrion (Petaluma, Calif./All Sport-Team Swift), and Daniel Farinha (San Jose, Calif./San Jose Bicycle Club).
Jondall was the highest-placed rider for the team in the overall classification, followed by Swedberg in 16th. Peterson picked up a stage win in the stage four road race and finished 47th overall. Paul Lynch was 18th overall while Nate Geoffrion was 20th and Daniel Farinha was 66th.

Following the Tour de l'Abitibi, the United States secured the number-one spot in the UCI Junior Nations Cup rankings. With 190 points, the U.S. leads second- and third-ranked Russia (160) and Denmark (102). To see the rankings, please click here.
U23 development program
MOUNTAIN BIKE
USA Cycling fielded a squad of four U23 riders in the elite men's cross country race at the fourth round of the UCI Mountain Bike World Cup in Champéry, Switzerland on Saturday. Out of the 200 elite men entered in the event, Stephen Ettinger (Cashmere, Wash.) placed the highest for the young squad in 105th-place. Russell Finsterwald (Colorado Springs, Colo.) was 109th, Jack Hinkens (Edenprairie, Minn.) was 119th, and Kerry Werner (Banner Elk, N.C.) was 135th. women's development program
ROAD
Coryn Rivera (Tustin, Calif./Peanut Butter & Co. TWENTY 12) sprinted to third-place in the final stage of the Tour Limousin in France on Sunday. The 17-year-old Rivera was ranked 22nd overall in the general classification at the end of the four-stage race.
Riding as a member of USA Cycling's Women's National Development Program squad, Rivera was joined in France by four other young teammates, Kaitie Antonneau (Racine, Wis./Team Kenda), Kendall Ryan (Ventura, Calif./Now-MS Society), Jessica Prinner (South Elgin, Ill/ABD Cycling Team), and Tayler Wiles (Bluffdale, Utah). At the end of the event, Antonneau wasn't far behind Rivera in the overall, finishing 24th. Wiles was 69th while Ryan was 77th and Prinner was 89th. The USA Cycling contingent was ranked eighth overall out of the 29 teams entered in the event.

Racing for USA Cycling's Women's National Development Program, Chloe Forsman (Tucson, Ariz.) donned the Stars-and-Stripes at the fourth round of the UCI Mountain Bike World Cup on Saturday.
