Swedberg wins Tour de l'Abitibi sprint, best young rider jerseys

Val-d'Or, Canada (July 25, 2010) -- Reaching his fourth podium of the seven-stage Tour de l'Abitibi, Benjamin Swedberg (Kent, Wash./USA Cycling Development Program) finished third in stage 7, a 114.6-kilometer race from Senneterre to Val-d'Or.

Swedberg also won the best young rider jersey classification and the orange jersey for the sprint classification. In total, USA Cycling Development Program riders made up six of the 11 American podium spots, which included three stages wins.

The USA Cycling Development Program also finished third in the general team classification.

The 42nd edition of the Tour de l'Abitibi was won by Australian rider Lachlan Morton from Team Holowesko Partners. Philippe Nadon of Team Quebec took stage 7 after strong side winds caused a split in the peloton early in the race. The front group reached the final nine laps around Val-d'Or with a more than four minute lead on the rest of the peloton.
