Colorado Springs, Colo. (March 2, 2010) -- Mountain bike racing is getting underway around the world, and a record 107 teams have registered as UCI Mountain Bike Teams for the 2010 season. The United States has the third highest number of UCI teams with 12, compared to the 14 Italian and 15 French squads.
The twelve U.S. teams registered as UCI Mountain Bike Teams for 2010 include EX Drinks, Giant Factory Team, GT Bicycles, KONA, Luna Pro Team, Monster Energy-Specialized-Mad Catz, Santa Cruz Syndicate, Specialized Factory Racing, Subaru-Gary Fisher, Team Maxxis-Rocky Mountain, Whole Athlete Cycling Team, and Yeti Fox Shox Factory Race Team. USA Cycling’s Professional Mountain Bike Cross Country Tour (Pro XCT) kicks off at the end of the month with round one of the U.S. Cup in Fontana, Calif. on March 27.
REMINDER to domestic pro mountain bike teams not registered as UCI Teams:
Registration as a USA Cycling Mountain Bike Domestic Pro Team is required in order to be tabulated into the PRO XCT TEAM RANKINGS. Team ranking points will only begin to accumulate at the next event after a team’s registration. In order to amass the most points possible, domestic pro teams are strongly encouraged to register before the Pro XCT opener on March 27.
