DEVELOPMENT WRAP-UP: BMX Development Camp hosts 22 young riders

BMX Development Camp wraps up in Calif.

The second USA Cycling Intense BMX Junior Development Program (JDP) Camp of the 2009/2010 season took place last week. With 22 participants, it was the largest JDP camp so far. USA Cycling development efforts also paid off overseas last week as Danny Heeley (Hermosa Beach, Calif./South Bay Wheelmen) and Ian Moir (Long Beach, Calif./Rock Racing) placed fourth in the UIV Talent Cup at the Zurich 6-Day.

NATIONAL DEVELOPMENT TEAM PROGRAM

U.S. National Team riders Danny Heeley and Ian Moir competed in the Zurich 6-Day, Dec. 15-20. The pair completed the UIV Talent Cup in fourth, compared to their sixth-place finish from a year ago.

Also in action in Zurich was Daniel Holloway (Morgan Hill, Calif./ Garmin-Felt-Holowesko), who joined German Sebastian Siedler to place sixth in the pro event.

Americans Jackie Simes IV (Breiningsville, Pa./TIME Pro Cycling) and Eric Barlevav (Northridge, Calif./Team Mountain Khakis) are currently racing the pro event, with Canadian Danielle DiFranchesci, at the Apeldoorn 6-Day which will conclude in the Netherlands on Dec. 22. Development Camps

The second USA Cycling Intense BMX Junior Development Program (JDP) Camp of the 2009/2010
season took place in Chula Vista, Calif., Dec. 12-17. With 22 youngsters making their way to the Olympic replica BMX Super Cross track, it was the largest JDP Camp so far. The goal of these camps is to bridge the gap between traditional BMX racing and the Supercross style found at World Cups and the Olympic Games.
