USA Cycling Approved CEU programs

USA Cycling certified coaches are required to earn 4.0 continuing education units (CEUs) over the course of two years in order to renew.  For more details on the CEU program, please visit the CEU Policy page.

While USA Cycling offers many CEU opportunities, USA Cycling recognizes that other opportunities exist through other national governing bodies (NGBs, such as USA Triathlon or USA Track and Field) or organizations such as the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) or American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM).  In addition, some coaches will offer seminars or webinars that USA Cycling will recognize.

The attached documents are approved CEU programs.  Please note that the programs that are listed are only the ones that have been sent to USA Cycling for approval.  If you are interested in a seminar or conference that is not listed, please send the coaching education manager the agenda or URL to the conference website for assignment of a CEU value.  It is possible that the conference will receive a value of 0.00 CEU from USA Cycling if the program content is not deemed to be related to coaching cyclists.  For instance, a clinic on swim technique for triathlon coaches would not be of any value to a cycling coach; however, if a triathlon coaching clinic features a variety of topics and some time is spent on cycling or training plan design or nutrition, the time that is applicable to coaching cyclists will be given a CEU value.

If you have attended one of these events, you will need to have a receipt or certificate of attendance or some other means of verifying your attendance.

The reports are presented as follows:

Approved conferences/seminars that are offered either annually or throughout the year.  The list is NOT exhaustive.  It merely reflects the programs that have been submitted; if you have a conference/seminar that you attended (or are considering), please submit information (agenda or URL) so that it can be reviewed.
Certifications are from NGBs (such as USA Triathlon, USA Track and Field, etc) or personal trainer certifications (NSCA, ACSM, ACE. etc)

Performance Conditioning Self Tests
Coaches can earn CEU credit through the Performance Conditioning for Cycling self-tests.  The self-tests can be taken either online or by mailing in the hard copy of the self-tests.  (See the CEU policy for more details and CEU values/costs).  The self-tests are counted in the calendar year in which they are received.  There is no time limit on submitting the self-tests (some older self-tests will indicate a 90 day limit, but this was changed a while back).  The exception is if a person sends in the self-tests and payment with the coaching license renewal and CEU Summary Report form, those self-tests will be counted for the CEU cycle needed for renewal.  For instance, a coach is 0.5 CEU short.  The coach sends in 5 self-tests with the renewal paperwork on January 25.  Those CEUs would count in the 2008-2009 cycle.  Howevr, if the online self-tests are taken, they can only be counted in the calendar year in which they are submitted.

The reports below show the self-tests that have been processed.  The report is updated at the end of each month for the current year.

There are many other opportunities such as webinars offered by individuals or organizations.  Due to the large volume of these offerings, no list is maintained at this time.
