Craddock grabs silver in JR Worlds TT, Rivera 16th for women

Moscow, Russia (Aug. 7, 2009) - Lawson Craddock (Houston, Texas/Hot Tubes) grabbed the silver medal in the time trial at the UCI Junior Road World Championships in Moscow, Russia on Friday. Coryn Rivera (Tustin, Calif./Proman Hit Squad) had the next best American finish on the day with a 16th place result on the women's side. 

Craddock recorded a time of 32:54.45 on the 25.8-kilometer course, narrowly missing the world title. The Texan finished only 2.2 seconds behind Australia's Luke Durbrige who scored a time of 32:52:23. Lasse Norman Hansen of Denmark earned the bronze at 33:03.01.  The only other American contesting the event, Nathan Brown (Covington, Tenn./Hot Tubes) was 34th at 34:42.62. In the women's 12.9-kilometer event, Rivera posted a time of 19:06.10 to earn 16th place among 35 of the world's best. Jessica Prinner (South Elgin, Ill./ABD Cycling Team) placed 21st with a time of 19:10.76. Cana Solovey of the Ukraine ran away with the world title with a time of 17:39.43, more than 40 seconds faster than her closest competitor. The UCI Junior Road World Championships will continue on Aug. 9 with both the men's and women's road race events. Riveria and Prinner will join forces with Kendall Ryan (Ventura, Calif./NOW-MS Society) in the women's road race. Ranked second internationally as a country, the junior men's road squad is expected to make some waves asJacob Rathe (Portland, Ore./CMG Racing), Gavin Mannion (Dedham, Mass./Hot Tubes), Ian Boswell (Bend, Ore./Hot Tubes) and Ryan Eastman (Petaluma, Calif./All Sport-Team Swift) will join Craddock and Brown for the men's road event.
