Phinney wins Fleche du Sud prologue

Coming off a successful campaign with the USA Cycling National Development Team, Taylor Phinney (Boulder, Colo./Trek-Livestrong) won the 4.2-kilometer prologue of the Fleche du Sud in Luxembourg on Wednesday. Riding for his Trek-Livestrong squad, the USA Cycling National Development Team program participant contested the 2.2-rated event alongside several other Americans including Kevin Soller (Grand Junction, Colo./Waste Management) who finished 10th in the opening stage riding for USA Cycling's National Development Team squad.  

Several other USA Cycling Cycling National Development team riders fared well in the opening day of competition including Chris Barton (Ojai, Calif./BMC) who finished 15th.

All six USA Cycling National Development Team riders along with several additional Americans riding for trade team squads are set to contest Thursday's stage one, a 158-kilometer trek from Kayl to Roeser, Luxembourg.
