The SERC kicks off the 2009 AMBC in Florida

The 2009 Trek Bicycles Southeastern Regional Championship Series kicked-off the American Mountain Bike Challenge Series on March 8 in Gainesville, Fla. The first round the ten race SERC series kicked off with a Trek Demo and pre-ride on Saturday, thanks to the round sponsor Gator Cycles. The real action began on Sunday morning as nearly 250 riders took to the tough and tricky Gainesville course. A few new sections were added this year to the 5.5 mile course and had even the locals on their toes so to speak.  Ryan Woodall (Ocala, Fla.) won a close race in Men's Pro field and Shelly Allen (Pinellas Park, Fla.) topped the Women's Pro class. Overall a great start to the new season and many thanks to the sponsors that made it a big success! The second event on the AMBC calendar will be the Chickasaw Trace Classic in Columbia, Tenn. on March 29. Visit http://www.columbiacyclingclub.com/ for more information on that event.
