2009 UCI BMX World Challenge qualification criteria announced
Attention USA Cycling BMX Members:
USA Cycling released today the qualification procedures for the 2009 UCI BMX World Challenge in Adelaide, Australia July 23-26, 2009.
Automatic nominations to the U.S. Team will once again be awarded based on performance at the USA Cycling BMX National Championships scheduled for March 21, 2009 in Desoto, Texas, as well as performances from last year’s UCI BMX World Challenge from Taiyuan, China.
Eligible participants MUST hold a USA Cycling BMX International License and be U.S. citizens.
All qualified USA Cycling members who plan to compete at the 2009 UCI BMX World Challenge must have both a valid passport and Australian visa or, if eligible, through Electronic Travel Authority (ETA). The ETA replaces a visa and allows a stay of up to three months. It may be obtained for a small service fee at http://www.eta.immi.gov.au/. Airlines and many travel agents in the United States are also able to issue ETA’s. For athletes who qualified with a top-eight finish at the 2008 UCI BMX World Challenge, registration for the event will begin on March 1, 2009 and will be available at www.usacycling.org under the “My USA Cycling” link.
Entry for riders qualifying via the 2009 USA Cycling BMX National Championships will begin on April 6, 2009.
