Final 2008 Technical Director Update

Dear USA Cycling Official,

This is a brief note to wish you all a happy end to 2008 and looking forward to a great 2009. Some of you have already renewed your officials licenses. For those who have not, I need to make you aware of a change in the process. Officials will now have to provide a signed waiver when they take out a license, just like we do for the coaches, mechanics, and all international licenses. As such, if you renew online, your license will be pended until you print off the waiver, sign it, and send it in. While this is an extra step in the process, it will help with our exposure to liability. Thanks.

Also, we have become aware that some officials have missed out on certain emails from me, whether TD updates or other important info. When this happens is almost always is because the person’s account options are set to “opt out of email.” If you have your account set that way, you cannot receive email blasts from us. Of course, that means you did not receive this message either, but we also post these online and I am hoping that officials will spot this on our web page and realize why they have not been getting updates they may have wanted to receive. Thanks again.

Best wishes and happy holidays,

Shawn Farrell
