USA Cycling Coaching Summit 2008

Registration for the Summit is still available.  When (and if) the various Summit packages fill up with registrations, that package will no longer appear on the Clinics available option at MYUSACYCLING.  The deadline is October 1 at 11am (MDT) or until hte Summit fills. No exceptions.


The USA Cycling Coaching Summit will be held October 14-19, 2008 in Colorado Springs, CO at the US Olympic Complex and Training Center (OTC).  The Summit is open to anyone interested in becoming a better cyclist or bike racer.

NOTE: There will be price increase after September 15th as previously indicated.

Randy Wilber, Ph.D.  "Altitude Training and Use of Simulated Altitude"
      A presentation on the use of altitude training and simulated altitude (tents and such); what can one expect and how can one use altitude training for improving performance.
Stephen McGregor, Ph.D.   "Training Myths: Busted or Not"
      Addresses some common myths surrounding training.
Pat McDonough, "USA Cycling Athletic Programs"
     An overview of USA Cycling Athletic Programs from juniors to the Olympics.  What changes have been made and what changes are upcoming.
Inigo Mujika, Ph.D.  "Tapering" and "The Science of Cycling"
    Dr. Mujika will present his research and practical applications when it comes to tapering; in addition, Dr. Mujika has done extensive research into cycling performance and will present an overview of the scientific literature related to high performance cycling.

Kristen Dieffenbach, Ph.D. "Goal Setting" and "The Athlete with Eating Disorder"

Conference packages

Bronze package is limited to just the conference sessions.  No meals and no housing are included.
Silver package includes the conference sessions and meals at the OTC including the Saturday evening conference banquet.
Gold package includes the silver package plus lodging at the OTC.

Meals
All meals beginning with lunch on October 14 through lunch on October 19 are included in the silver and gold packages.  Meals will be served in the Athlete Center where you can mingle and try to identify Olympians in a variety of sports.  Meals are all you care to eat. (USA Cycling is not responsible for weight gain while attending the Summit).

In addition to the above, the Summit features a Saturday evening happy hour and dinner at a Colorado Springs restaurant.

Lodging
For those who choose the Gold package, lodging will be provided.  Lodging at the OTC is dormitory style with up to three people per room.  All linens are provided.

Payment and Registration Procedures
All payments must be made through the MYUSACYCLING function.  You can create an account at the MYUSACYCLING function even if you are not a USAC license holder/member.  See the USA Cycling website for information on how to create an account.

Once you pay, you will be given a link to an online registration form to provide crucial information to complete the registration process.

Both steps must be completed!

Costs
The following cost scheme is valid through September 15 or as long as space is available.  To receive the coach rate, one must be a certified coach at the time of payment.  The refund policy is:
Prior to September 1, 50% of the fee paid will be refunded if cancelled.
Between September 1-30, 25% of the registration fee will be refunded if you cancel.
After September 30, there will be no refunds.

Registration closes October 1, 2008 at 11am.
