The Mount Hood Cycling Classic marked the 11th event on the USA Cycling National Racing Calendar, May 13-18. Rory Sutherland (AUS) came out on top of the overall in the five stage contest, while Julie Beveridge (CAN) earned the women's GC victory in Hood River, Ore. The 1.5-rated Bank of America Wilmington Grand Prix continued the NRC in Delaware on May 17 with Scott Zwizanski (Sausalito, Calif.) taking the men's pro race and Laura McCaughey (AUS) earning the victory on the women's side. With nine men’s races and 11 women’s events on the 2008 NRC now complete, Rory Sutherland (AUS) has a commanding lead in the overall individual standings on the men's side while Leah Goldstein (CAN) is the current women’s leader. The teams currently atop the standings include the Health Net Pro Cycling Team presented by Maxxis in the men’s rankings and the Cheerwine Professional Cycling Team in the women’s. The next race on the USA Cycling National Racing Calendar will be the Tour de Leelanau on May 24. The 1.1-rated race will serve as a women's UCI event and will take place in and around Traverse City, Mich. On the same day, the men will race the 1.4-rated Kelly Cup in Baltimore, Md. The Tour of Somerville, both a men's and women's NRC event, is also quickly approaching as the 1.4-rated contest is scheduled to take place on May 26 in Somerville, N.J.
