30-man roster for third round of BMX Supercross World Cup named

Colorado Springs, Colo. (September 20, 2007)—USA Cycling announced today the 30-man U.S. roster that will compete at the third round of the 2007 UCI BMX Supercross World Cup in Salt Lake City, Sept. 21-22.   
 
The third round of the 2007 UCI BMX Supercross World Cup is the sixth of 17 events that factor into USA Cycling’s 2008 BMX Rankings – the primary factor which determines the Olympic Long Team for the 2008 Games in Beijing. 
 
Among those competing in Salt Lake City are current world champion and USA Cycling BMX Rankings leader Kyle Bennett (Conroe, Texas), the winner of the last BMX Supercross in Beijing and number-one ranked rider in the world Donny Robinson (Napa, Calif.), 2007 world championship bronze medalist Randy Stumpfhauser (Sanger, Calif.) and the number-three ranked rider in the world, Mike Day (Santa Clarita, Calif.).
 
In total, 13 of the 14 riders currently ranked in USA Cycling’s 2008 BMX Rankings who are competing for slots on the Olympic Long Team are scheduled to race in Salt Lake City, including third-ranked Steven Cisar (Altadena, Calif.), Danny Caluag (Chino, Calif.), Matt Pohlkamp (Cincinnati, Ohio), Jason Rogers (Mesquite, Texas), Jarrett Kolich (Santa Barbara, Calif.), Tyler Brown (San Clemente, Calif.), Mike Moeller (Lawrence, Kan.), Brandon Meadows (Sacramento, Calif.) and Joey Bradford (Monterey, Calif.).
 
The Salt Lake City stop is the third World Cup this season following the season-opener in Madrid in April and the official Olympic Test Event in Beijing last month. The series concludes in October in Fréjus,France.
 
Competition begins Friday, Sept. 21 with the time trial qualifying rounds followed by the finals on Saturday, Sept. 22. For more information, click here.
