Volunteer Mechanics Program

USA Cycling Volunteer Mechanics program is our most productive development program. This is often the second step for mechanics in their effort to become race mechanics. Licensed mechanics are able to come to the Olympic Training Complex for national team training camps. At these camps, mechanics can work with the USA Cycling Team mechanics, athletes and coaches. We are able to control the pace and conditions of what information is covered to conform to the needs of each mechanic.

This allows the volunteers to progress at a comfortable rate. The volunteers are encouraged to explore what they know, as well as what the national team mechanics have experienced as race mechanics. Volunteer mechanics are also exposed to the latest technological advancements of the USA Cycling Team equipment. This often exposes a mechanic to products with which they are not yet familiar. Some successful participants of the clinic are asked to travel with USA Cycling Team to events that require additional support or if the team mechanic is unable to attend. This gives a mechanic first-hand experience of the team structure. Volunteers work hard and their desire to participate in this program shows their conviction to what they want to do most.
