(May 31, 2017) – USA Cycling announced today the athletes who will represent the United States at the 2017 UCI Mountain Bike Marathon World Championships slated for June 25 in Singen, Germany.

Payson McElveen (Durango, Colo./Team RideBiker p/b Sho Air) and Howard Grotts (Durango, Colo./Specialized Racing) will put their wheels to the line for the red, white, and blue in the men's 98-kilometer affair next month. The pair earned their invites based on their first- and second-place finishes, respectively, at this year's Mountain Bike Marathon National Championships in Arkansas.

"Grotts was ninth at last year's worlds, and both men are strong choices for the 2017 team," said USA Cycling's Director of MTB Programs, Marc Gullickson. "We look forward to competing in Germany."

The USA will not field a women's team at the event.
