I have served on the former MTB Board of Trustees, now the Sport Committee, since 2002 and understand the desire for new blood, but I feel that my experience and understanding of the challenges will bring a positive continuity to the Committee. Race Directors come from all backgrounds and many of us make a living apart from our races. But we must be able to execute a profitable race while providing a great product and USAC’s programs must help us meet this goal. As a certified Race Director, treasurer of TMBRA, and active racer, I engage USAC as a member and see how programs and structures work and where modifications might be made.
I have a keen ability to identify the issues, bringing the pertinent discussions to the table among the key stakeholders and staff. I keep the Committee organized and relevant.
We have many challenges ahead in the sport- creating a professional structure and calendar, engaging and finding sponsors, bringing in and retaining more women, engaging juniors and families, supporting grassroots racing and preserving the trails that we ride and race on. If re-elected as the Endurance Race Director, I feel I will continue to represent the concerns of our demographic while moving the sport forward. The only agenda that I have is to make mountain bike racing safe, fun and successful throughout the country.
