Join the TX High School League’s Scholastic Cycling Conference



The Texas High School Cycling League is putting finishing touches on its first annual Scholastic Cycling Conference. While the conference is billed as a scholastic cycling coaches and organizers conference, it will be very helpful and informative for anyone interested in middle school or high school cycling.

The conference's breakout format will allow for multiple, simultaneous sessions so that conference attendees can choose which presentations are best suited to their interest and level of experience. Topics will cover the spectrum of school-aged cycling issues for parents, coaches, and organizers.

The conference will be part:

  • Professional development for coaches
  • A sharing of best practices within scholastic cycling
  • A gathering and discussion with those involved in scholastic cycling
  • Information on what the Texas High School Cycling League is about and how to get started
  • Helping people get started as a team of one, or a bigger school/district team
  • Explanation of how to get a team at a nearby school
  • A gathering of parents of school kids who are interested in scholastic cycling

The conference will also talk about the upcoming season, year, and beyond, and there will even be an on-the-bike session demonstrating how to do a skills drills session appropriate for scholastic riders.

Guest speakers include Jeffrey Hansen (USA Cycling's Collegiate  and High School Cycling Program Manager) and Christian Williams (Lone Star Works founder & coach and director of Slipstream Sports Junior Development Team), among others.

Conference attendees will even get a first look at and special pricing on brand new league apparel.

Quite simply, if you are interested in scholastic cycling then you will want to be there this January 21-22. If you are a parent, coach, assistant coach, organizer, moderator, volunteer or similar then make plans to attend this conference. Registration is only $75 and includes a full day Saturday & half day Sunday.

The Texas High School Cycling League is the official organizer of high school bicycle racing in the state of Texas. It operates in conjunction with USA Cycling, which is the governing body for cycling in the United States and its other local organizations, representatives, and officials. The mission of the Texas High School Cycling League is to promote cycling as a healthy activity and competitive sport by providing a venue for high school clubs and students to compete against each other and by supporting the establishment of cycling clubs in high schools throughout Texas.
