I have been involved in bicycle racing for more than 30 years. I started racing in New Jersey and migrated deeper into the Mid-Atlantic region. In addition to racing, I have contributed as a promoter, team manager (I helped create the US Naval Academy Cycling Team), and official. I have been involved in my Local Association as their Officials Coordinator since it was created more than 20 years ago. My involvement with cycling continues today at the local, regional, national and international levels.

Three years ago, I was reelected to represent the Eastern Region on the USCF Board of Trustees. The Board of Trustees was retired during a reorganization of the USA Cycling governance last year.  I was reassigned to the Cyclo-cross Committee to represent the senior officials involved in Cross racing.  The new committees are an exciting new dynamic for USA Cycling, but they are a work in process.  I believe that my experience with growing Cyclo-Cross in the Mid-Atlantic area will be valuable in growing this exciting part of our sport on a national level.
My local area, the Mid-Atlantic Bicycle Racing Association, experienced super growth in Cyclo-cross over the past twelve years.  Our total ridership in was fewer than 200 racer days in 2000. We grew to over 8,500 pre-registrations in 2011, accounting for nearly 50% of our racer days.  I worked as a liaison to coordinate promoters and officials to increase the quality of the racer experience.  We look forward to seeing the continued growth in 2012 and beyond.

In closing, I have a proven track record of representing the interests of Cycling and our Officials. I am proud of my nine years of service and fully recognize that the work is not completed. I would like to represent you for the next three years. As my record proves, I am willing to go the extra distance to ensure that YOUR thoughts are heard and that USAC provides you with the services you desire and deserve. As always, I value your input. Please feel free to contact me with your questions or concerns (jim@jimpatton.net).  I will answer all e-mail and provide summaries of your concerns and comments on my Blog at www.jimpatton.net.
