Gina Kavesh Election Statement

I’m running for the USAC road committee Masters Female representative because I want to make USAC more effective in reaching out to the grass roots level of the sport.  I bring a unique perspective as a women cyclist with 19+ years of race experience who has been involved in all levels of competition.

There are many voices within USAC vying for attention.  Yet many of those voice seem more targeted at those already within the sport, at higher levels, than at reaching out and developing the cyclist who is just starting down their road of bike racing. It’s those developing riders who I have found myself continually encouraging & motivating; knowing that if we can get someone to line up the first time, the 2nd time is that much easier. Then it’s a matter of getting them to return for year 2 & 3.  I’ve had the opportunity to implement a number of creative ideas/solutions locally to recruit the recreational rider to regular bike racing. I’d like the opportunity to see if any of these ideas can be expanded across regions.

My qualifications include:
  • Have grown local USAC team from 10 women to a  roster that now has 47 women
  • Have been involved in creating & instructing Redlands Women’s Cycling Clinic for the past 4 years.
  • Have continued to lead the initiative to create and maintain a Women’s Cat4 & Cat3 series in the State of Washington.
  • One of the initial members of the Local Association’s (WSBA) Junior Committee
  • Co-founder of WSBA Junior Cycling Camp
  • Spearheaded annual Women’s specific rides to encourage women to check out bike racing & local bike racing teams.
  • Helped originate local Women’s cycling clinics that significantly expanded the ranks of local racing fields.
In addition, I am a small business owner with an operational and financial background.  I apply the same results focused approach to my professional endeavors as to rider development and racing (and vice versa).
I appreciate the consideration of your support.
