Corrie Osborne Election Statement

Corrie Osborne
Female Athlete - Collegiate Sport Committee

I am very interested in serving on the Collegiate Sport Committee in order to help develop rules that continue to encourage student-athletes to enjoy our great sport of cycling. I want to be a voice for all college students, including those who have professional aspirations as well as those who aren't already represented because they aren't on professional teams or they don't have a dedicated cycling program behind them. I attend a small liberal arts college in the Midwest, and have participated in Road, Cyclocross and Mountain races throughout the United States since I was 14, and I have enjoyed racing with professionals and amateurs. I have loved biking, and racing, from a very young age, and I know that I am fortunate to be able to continue to compete in college. I love bike racing because it has a lot to teach everyone - about exercise, disciple, perseverance, teamwork, and how to win (or lose) gracefully. Collegiate cycling is on a precipice - it has an opportunity to continue to allow every student athlete regardless of background or experience to flourish or it has the risk of being dominated by a few large teams with professional athletes. I believe that we need to find the fine line between these two, and allow everyone the opportunity to participate while encouraging them to develop to the highest caliber. I want to be your voice, and I ask for your vote. Thanks!
