Road Committee - Local Association Representative
Hello, my name is Christopher Smith and I am running for the Local Area Representative Position on the USA Cycling Road Committee.
I have been actively involved in cycling for 27 years and have raced on the road, velodrome, cyclocross and MTB. I have also worked in the bicycle industry since 1988. I am the current president of the Minnesota Cycling Federation, the Local Association for USA Cycling in the state of Minnesota.
I have long looked for ways that I can help to grow and improve bicycle racing on the local level. This includes past service as a USA Cycling race official as well as the organization and promotion of numerous events over the years including time trials, road races, criteriums and cyclocross races. My time spent involved with the Minnesota Cycling Federation, first as Vice President and now as President, reflects my desire to propose and develop strategies that will hopefully bring more participants into the sport of bicycle racing and continue to grow the sport of competitive cycling in Minnesota.
I am very interested in working to try and achieve these same goals at the national level. I believe that I can use the experience that I have gained on the local cycling level to contribute to growing cycling on the national level. I also look forward to the opportunity of using knowledge gained from the national cycling community and using it to help improve cycling at the grassroots level.
Thanks to USA Cycling for opening these positions up to election. I hope I can have the opportunity to help contribute to bicycle racing in the United States.
