Cheryl Fuller Muller Election Statement

Cheryl Fuller Muller
US Professional Committee - Women's Team Director

It is a pleasure to be able to run for the women's team director position on the Professional Committee. I have been involved with competitive sports my entire life and in 2005 became a USAC member. Since then, I have raced on the road, the track and cyclocross. I have learned a lot over the years coming up the ranks myself as an athlete and team director. I have seen professional racing reach new heights, particularly in the women's peloton. This progression of women's cycling remains on the rise and should I be elected, I will do all I can to ensure that the path for professional women's teams continue to improve.

Huge strides have been made for women in the sport with equal prize money at UCI events and equal status with the men at the US Pro Nationals in Chattanooga. We need to continue to showcase women in the sport as a means to bring and encourage new riders to join the ranks and fill the next round of professionals in the US. I want to open lines of communication with the women's teams so together we can make the changes needed to develop pipelines for women to see there is a future as a professional cyclist.

I have been heavily involved with all aspects of cycling from our family owned bike shop, to hosting women's clinics, to serving as the General Manager of a Domestic Elite Team for the past 5 years. I have been the rider representative in the Georgia Bicycle Racing Association for the past two years and know how to ensure the voice of my constituents is heard and constructive. I will make sure the rules are crafted to allow teams to compete at the best level they are capable. The goal is to make a level playing field for all members to thrive and race.

Cycling is not just a hobby; is it my life outside of my family. I will carry this passion to the Professional Committee.  I appreciate you taking the time to read this statement and humbly ask for your vote.
