Boulder Junior Cycling announces Andy Bajadali as new head road program coach

Boulder, Colo. (November 13, 2013) — Andy Bajadali has been named the new Head Coach of the Road Program of Boulder Junior Cycling (BJC). Andy succeeds Jon Tarkington who remains with BJC as Coach Emeritus and will help with the coaching transition. In addition to his leadership of the Road Program, Bajadali will be responsible for the coaching and development of the BJC/Panache Stagiaire Team. Andy joins BJC’s other preeminent Head Coaches Ann Trombley (MTB) and Pete Webber (CX).

"BJC is very fortunate to have someone with the strong character and racing experience of Andy. He attended a number of practices in 2013 and I was extremely impressed with his ability to communicate and relate with the riders on the team,” said coach Jon Tarkington. BJC is regarded as one of the best Junior cycling programs in the country and is a five-year recipient of USA Cycling’s Center of Excellence Award.

Bajadali comes to BJC after retiring as a pro rider from the Optum Pro Cycling p/b Kelly Benefit Strategies team. His long and storied road racing career began with O-Foto/Lombardy Sports in 2003 and included GC wins in the Redlands Classic, Tri-Peak Challenge and The Tour of Thailand. “I’m excited for this new venture and I’m really looking forward to helping develop the next generation of prominent racers.”

After three years of consistent development, the Boulder Junior Cycling road program is poised to take another major step forward with addition of Bajadali. According to Tarkington, “I expect Andy will lead our BJC/Panache Stagiaire team to some impressive results in both national level junior races as well as locally in senior races. The returning riders are ready for it and with Andy’s wealth of experience they will be a force to contend with.”

Bajadali added, “I am really looking forward to the opportunity to step into the role that Jon has developed. This past summer, I had the pleasure of mixing it up with the guys in training and getting to know some of the unique personalities that make up the BJC/Panache Stagiaires.

"Immediately I was impressed at the array of talent and the humble attitude that everyone showed. Going forward I hope to pass on my knowledge and guidance built over my career so that these athletes become the real future ambassadors of the sport and be without question ready for great things on the bike and off.”
