Personal
Chris has three children, Aarica, Kali, and Garret. The father of three has been known to take flying dismounts from his bike upon crossing a finish line, fling the bike aside and raise his fists into the air. It is called the “bike spike.”
Favorite Pastimes
Chris enjoys working on his vintage 1980's Scirroco, riding his motor-cross bike, hiking, and listening to music.
How They Got Here
Chris used his bicycle as a mode of transportation directly out of high school to get to and from his construction job. He rode in his first race in Mission Viejo when he was 17, and by 1995, was finishing in the top 20 at major races across the nation. Chris turned pro in 1996.
Did You Know?
• In only his second race, he crashed at the University of San Diego Grand Prix, but it was also there in 1991 that he had his first taste of victory, beating future champ Lance Armstrong.
