Youth Olympic Games Qualification
The International Olympic Committee gives a limited number of spots to the United States Olympic Committee for the entire team across all sports and there are not enough spots for every sport to send a team.  For the 2018 Youth Olympic Games, USA Cycling does not have any spots on Team USA.  If a sport were to return a Youth Olympic Games spot to the USOC, we have requested these spots for Freestyle, but the chances of us receiving a last minute spot are not very good.  Therefore, should an American athlete qualify USA a spot for the Youth Olympic Games in China, we would be forced to turn it down at this point.  If you have any questions about this situation, please contact VP of Elite Athletics Scott Schnitzspahn at sschnitzspahn@usacycling.org.
