Colorado Springs, Colo. (August 11, 2014) -- A year after holding separate national championship for both the timed and mass start events, the nation's best track cyclist will all be together as the 2014 USA Cycling Elite Track National Championships get underway Tuesday at the Giordana Velodrome in Rock Hill, S.C. The event features competition in the international omnium, time trial, individual pursuit, miss and out, team pursuit, sprint, points race, Madison, keirin, scratch race and team sprint.

Returning riders looking to defend their titles from 2013 include Matthew Baranoski (Perkasie, Pa./Custom Velo), Tela Crane (Sammamish, Wash./Broadmark Capital), Bobby Lea (Mertztown, Pa./Custom Velo), Jackie Simes (Alburtis, Pa./Custom Velo) and Missy Erickson (Alexandria, Minn./Momentum Coaching Group).

Baranoski was a three-time national champion last year, winning the sprint, keirin and time trial. Crane also donned the Stars-and-Stripes jersey three times in 2013 following victories in the keirin, Madison and sprint races. Lea, a 2012 Olympian and another three-time champ a year ago, comes to Rock Hill in defense of his titles in the Madison, individual pursuit and international omnium. Simes teamed with Lea to win the men's Madison last year and also added titles in the points race and scratch race, while Erickson looks to remain on top in the women's time trial and women's team sprint.
