2012/13 UCI & CXNC Event Inscription Information
To all cyclo-cross race directors: Here are a few updates for the 2011/2012 season, along with information about the 2012/2013 UCI cyclo-cross event inscriptions and 2012/2013 USA Cycling Cyclo-cross National Calendar (CXNC) application and program.
2011/2012 Cyclo-cross Season
Race Results Submission — Please remember to submit all your race results (not just UCI) to USA Cycling within 24-hours of your event. The new USA Cycling rankings program will be used to determine call-ups for the non-UCI categories at the 2012 USA Cycling Cyclo-cross National Championships (and will even be integrated into the UCI classes after the UCI rankings have been used).
Officials Reports — We’ve been receiving officials reports from many of the events this season. This has been helpful and they will be used in helping to determine what events will be submitted to UCI for event inscription consideration. Please make sure to communicate with your chief official before, during, and post-event so you can discuss with them your strong points, weak points, what you can do to improve your event, along with what you did well.
2012/2013 UCI Cyclo-cross Season
2012/2013 Cyclo-cross Event Inscriptions — Eligible Events: All of you on the 2011/2012 UCI cyclo-cross calendar should have received the 2012/2013 UCI event inscription information directly from the UCI on October 15, 2011. This is a follow-up reminder that all events wishing to be considered for 2012/2013 UCI cyclo-cross event inscription must submit their paperwork to USA Cycling (please email Kelli Lusk at klusk@usacycling.org), no later than Friday, December 2, 2011. Thanks to those of you who submitted your preferred dates earlier in the season.
UCI cyclo-cross event inscription application
Event Dates — Events that are applying for UCI event inscription must adhere to the protection of dates rule (5.1.005) as outlined in the UCI CX Rulebook. Here is the rule as a reminder:
- UCI World Championships — No other international cyclo-cross event may be organized on the days of the UCI World Championships.
- UCI World Cup — No Class 1 event may be held on the same day as a UCI World Cup event. No Class 1 event may be on the day before or the day after a UCI World Cup event without the UCI’s previous approval. No Class 2 event may be held on the same day as a UCI World Cup event in the same country.
- Class 1 — No Class 2 event may be held on the same day as a Class 1 event in the same cycling-defined region (USA).
2012/2013 UCI Cyclo-cross pre-calendar
Class of the Event — For an event registered in Class 1, the organizer must also organize a Class 1 Women event (rule 5.1.004). It’s not possible to mix classes of events (i.e. an organizer cannot inscript for a Class 1 Women and Class 2 Men — they both need to be inscripted in the same Class). If events require a Class upgrade, the UCI will make a decision on the basis of the race report and of the participation analysis (number of riders and foreign participants) of the previous edition (rule 5.1.004).
Category (ies) of the Event — For each registration of a Men’s Elite event, organizers have the possibility to register at the same date without additional registration fees for the following categories: Women (apart from Class 1 mandatory), Men-U23, Men-Juniors. Only the registered categories will obtain UCI points.
Cups/Series — A written authorization must be requested to the UCI for the organization of the “Cup/Series” as per article 1.2.026 of the UCI Rulebook:
Rule 1.2.026: National federations, their affiliates, and license holders and in general, all bodies answerable to them shall be barred from participating actively or passively in any individual or team classification based on the races on the international calendar other than those drawn-up or expressly authorized by the UCI. Events conducted by an organizer who fails to comply with the preceding paragraph shall be deleted from the international calendar for the following year. A cyclo-cross “Cup or Series” will comprise of no more than a maximum of eight (8) rounds.
New Event on UCI Cyclo-cross International Calendar — A technical guidebook must be included with each new request (along with the completed UCI event inscription form). The technical guidebook must be included when organizers submit their event inscription form to USA Cycling by December 2, 2011.
