Ogden, Utah (February 27, 2016) – Sixteen national champions were crowned at Powder Mountain Resort in Utah on Saturday at the second annual USA Cycling Fat Bike National Championships p/b Borealis Fat Bikes, including Alexander Grant (Salt Lake City, Utah/Cannondale 360 Fly p/b Sugol) and Hanna Muegge (Marina, Calif./La Sweat) in the pro contests.

In the pro men’s event, Robert Squire (Sandy, Utah/UCI CT: Holowesko) had a solid lead as the racers entered the final stretch but a crash in the final ten meters cost him the national title. Grant passed Squire and soloed over the line for the win with a final time of 1:13:18. Josia Middaugh (Vail, Colo.) rounded out the podium three minutes back in 1:16:09.

Muegge crossed the finish line for the Stars-and-Stripes jersey ahead of second- and third-place finishers Rebecca Blatt (Lakewood, Colo./Van Dessel Factory Team) and Rebecca Gross (Golden, Colo.).
